Terms & Conditions

Last updated 7 September 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using Lesson Rotate (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What the Service is

Lesson Rotate helps peripatetic (travelling) music teachers build and manage rotating lesson timetables across the schools they teach at, including student records, scheduling, and parent-communication tools.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account secure and for everything that happens under it. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. One account is intended for one teacher/business — contact us if you need something different.

4. Your data, your students

Any student, parent, or school data you enter belongs to you — you are the data controller for that information (see our Privacy Policy for what that means in practice). We provide the platform; we don't claim ownership of your content.

Being the data controller means a few things are your responsibility rather than ours. You need a lawful basis for holding information about your pupils, you should record only what you actually need for teaching them, and you should follow whatever your schools and employers require of you.

The notes field on a pupil is free text, so what goes in it is your choice. If you record health, medical or special educational needs information there — an allergy, a diagnosis, an arrangement for collecting a pupil from class — that is more sensitive than a name and a lesson time, and UK data protection law treats it as a special category. It is visible only to you, it is never shown to parents or included in anything you publish or share, and it is deleted when you delete the pupil or your account. Deciding whether it is appropriate to record, and telling families what you hold if you need to, remains yours as the controller.

5. Acceptable use

Please use the Service only for its intended purpose — running your own teaching business. Don't use it to store data you don't have a legitimate basis to hold, or in any way that breaks applicable law.

6. Free trial

New accounts get a 14-day free trial, with no payment card required. The trial starts as soon as you finish setting up your account, and during it you can set up one school day and use every other feature in full.

We will not ask for a card during the trial and we cannot charge you during it, because we do not hold your card details. If you do nothing, access simply stops when the 14 days are up — there is no automatic charge and nothing to cancel. Your data stays where it is.

To carry on after the trial, you choose a plan and enter a card then. We will email you before the trial ends so it does not stop without warning.

7. Subscriptions & billing

Lesson Rotate is £5.99 a month or £59 a year, in pounds sterling. Payments are taken by Stripe; we never see or store your card details. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time from Account → Billing, with no notice period and nothing further to pay. Your access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, and then stops.

Refunds. Because access runs to the end of the paid period, we don't refund the unused part of a month or year when you cancel. If something has gone wrong — you were charged twice, or charged after cancelling — get in touch and we'll put it right. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.

Starting straight away. By subscribing you ask us to make the Service available to you immediately rather than after any cooling-off period. You can still cancel at any point as described above.

Price changes. If we change a price, we'll tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then if you'd rather not continue.

Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails we'll retry it and let you know. Your access may be paused until the payment goes through.

8. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect.
